Hi, I have one of the last Ulysses, a 2010 XB12XT, it's great bike, but it is now out of action.... once warm, while being ridden, the motor pauses for 1 or 2 seconds, then runs normally, as this happens the engine management warning light comes on, but goes out as the motor comes back on full. The motor does not stall, it seems to be dropping in to 'limp' mode. No fault code is left on the ECM. The fault does not seem to be linked engine revs or load.

So far, a fuel pressure problem has been found and fixed, the oxygen sensor has been replaced as has engine temperature sensor.

Not sure where to look next..... has anyone out there had the same problem or got any ideas?

Record a log when the error occurs, then post a link to it. Also check the ECM for signs of seat contact or cracks in the compound.

Hi, looks like we've tracked the fault down to a crack in the ECM case caused by pressure from contact from the underside of the seat. The bike runs fine with the ECM relocated, so we'll see how it runs for a while, otherwise, does anyone have source of replacement ECMs?

I thought the later Ullys had some form of protection to prevent this problem after it was first highlighted? A rubber protection block near the ecu springs to mind so a couple of questions.
1) has yours had to mod removed.
OR
2) are you a fatbastard by any chance lOl ;)

My 09 Uly has a plastic block under the seat that looks like it is supposed to stop the seat pressing on the ECU, but with my weight it was still contacting the ECU until I modified the seat base.

Hi, thanks for the replies, despite the fact the bike is one of the last, it doesn't seem to have the mod, and no, I don't think I'm a fat bastard!

The problem first arose on the way back from Liverpool after a trip to the Manx GP, the beloved Isle of Man Steam Packet Company strapped the bike down with rope across the seat, maybe that was the cause....... Does anyone want to take odds on me getting any compensation off them!
