Want to use ECMSPY to put the fan on my 08 XB12XT back to only running when needed vs all the time.....in line with the post in the "How to" forum. Is there a ECMSPY for Dummies (who want to do just one thing)...any simple steps to what to do etc ? I already have the usb to ECM cable that I used previously when I got a custom map from Twin. Thanks. Eric. |

I'll do it but you need ECMSpy for mono or ECMdroid or similar. I need to know your ECM firmware, e.g. BUE2D, BUE1D, BUEZD I'll show you how to do it on my 2010 Uly but if you have a different ECM firmware it won't be the same... |

Thanks Pash ! I'll be doing it from a windows 7 64bit PC. Looks like I need to install Mono Version 2.10 runtime environment then ECMSPY on top of that, is that right ? Not sure of my ECM firmware....HD put on the latest one right before I got a custom map put on by a guy who developed and sold them via Twin in Holland (I just have a K&N filter, everything else standard). Before I got the update at HD my fan didnt run all the time but sometimes ran for a while after I switched the bike off..............after the update this didnt happen.........I want to go back to the way it was ! So maybe I have BUE2D now ??? I can check when I installs the ecmspy sw and try connect it. In terms of how to do it I really just need an idea of how to use the SW, is the bike turned on or off etc........what is the process ? Do I pull the config off the bike onto the PC then mod it and then push it back to the bike ? Sorry for the silly questions ! Eric. |

Right then... 1. Connect your lead up to your bike 2. Turn ignition on and set kill switch to run 3. Fire up ECMSpy for Mono 4. Click on the connect button, top right Attachment: On connection, the ECM content will be read by the program. You will see from the bottom left that this is BUE2D. 5. Click on the Limits tab Attachment: 6. Then the Fan Setup tab Attachment: 7. Then, deselect the Speed Based tickbox Attachment: 8. Then, go to the EEPROM tab, and click Burn Into ECM Attachment: Then disconnect everything and you are done... |

Whoa tiger ! You're a step ahead of me, need to install the sw and connect to the ECM to check what version ECM content I have then order the relevant database. Working on that now. Sent registration etc. Eric. |
