Eventually got the old girl back out on the road after winter and all my travels and racing, but as usual she was very grumpy about all the attention the blades been getting.

Put the battery on charge but it wouldn't kick over, good bright headlamp though.
So I bump starts it down the hill and the clutch was really draggin, couldn't get neutral but she fired up on second go (very steep hill :ill: ) Goes for a slow warm up round the village gearbox v stiff but thinks nothing of it as the bikes been stationary for 9 mnths.
Once warmed up everything good so does a 40 mile fast ride.
Parks up at work and check at lunch and the clutch is draggin again battery is stronger but really struggling to turn over engine. Have to bump start to get home.
This weekend took gill away on the bike for wedding aniversary 140 miles round trip, bike is pulling like a train gearbox is sweet but after 1/2 hr parked up the clutch is draggin so bad that its very hard to push with the clutch in and hard but not impossible to find neutral and battery is charging well but won't kick the bike over.
Adjustment at leaver is good :?
The bike will turnover and fire on a starter booster
So think a battery is needed (2 winters and 3 seasons old) but am concirned about the clutch
Any help much appreciated.
Any

The heavy push when the bike is in gear with clutch pulled in and engine not running is just normal ,they all do that lOl
Put it in nutral before starting makes it a lot easier to turn over ,also for the battery!

And about the hard find of nutral with running engine ,maybe you check the primary chain and do a little adjustment.

:yup:

take the cover off the starter solenoid (3 screws) and check the copper ring on plunger and contacts inside for burning, clean them up with a small file or emery cloth.
My x1 was showing the same problem with starting on a good battery, a quick clean solved the problem.
