I have to remove the left hand fork to have the fork seal redone. (long story) but its being carried out by HD for free.
If I make up some small blocks of wood and cable tie or jubilee clip them to the right fork to stop the fork from compressing, will this allow me to remove the left fork without having to support the front of the bike. I will use a paddock stand on the rear and place a block under the front wheel to give me more clearance.
The only problem I can foresee is that the bars will try to turn, but I can stop this from happening.
Thought I'd ask prior to screwing things up.

You haven't thought that one through, have you old bean.

I'd suggest:
- Rear of bike on paddock stand to keep it vertical and relatively stable
- Couple of ratchet straps to the joists of your garage

I do the same apart from having an engine hoist type thing which I use to suspend the front of the bike, but have done the above in the past on other bikes with no problems. Just make sure your joists are up to it.

Alternatively a front paddock stand that locates under the steering head should do it.

If you are talking about one that sticks up the steering tube hold in the bottom yoke, the internal diameter on a tuber (S1 at least - which Gaz has) is too small, so it will either bend or break...

The Micron kit that attaches to a padock stand come with several different size pins. They also have a blank pin that you can turn down to your own custom spec.
It's by far the best method of removing fork that I've found. Don't try it without a rear paddock stand as well
