Post subject:  1125 steering head bearing adjustment
In the how to thread there is what appears to be a useful post about how to do the above. I understand the process but struggle to see how (since the photos have been removed) the front end is lifted to do the simple adjustments. I have done a quick skim (literally) through the online manual and can not find reference to the "jacking points". I am currently awaiting a paper manual which seems to have been on back order since mid September. At the risk of inappropriate comments any thoughts or links to point me in the right direction as I would like to check adjustment as the bearings should not be shot after less than 5000 miles. Clunk on very heavy breaking is starting to show up.

Are you sure it's knackered head bearings causing the 'clunk'. Handling issues often preceed any wear that's likely to cause noise? If they are that bad, the bike would have the handling finesse of a shopping trolley lOl
Have you read all the threads on Badweb about 'clanking' noises from the fork springs under braking?

I had my head bearings changed at 12000 miles as I had figured it would cure the clonk. ...It didn't and to be honest it's been like that pretty much since new.I'm sure it's the forks but the aren't a problem just sounds odd.

To be honest I am not convinced there is a serious problem as everything feels spot on and there is no play or obvious problems. The only clunks have been when Idiots have caused serious emergency stop situations on the road (which we are all familiar with I am sure). I was more interested in how the author of the post, (from Leicestershire I believe) had raised the bike on a trolly jack. My initial looks underneath the bike have not spotted an obvious place to put a jack. Perhaps I should have another look, was hoping for a hint from you good people.

mine had the 'clonk' i loosened the top yoke clamp bolts and did up the centre nut a little more, seems to have cured it.
now i have other random things to sort out like a fuel light light that comes on when you have just filled up? and resetting service reminder as its had new clocks

Al, is your fuel light associated with cold mornings.....i had the fuel pump replaced on mine under warranty for that...... Something to do with fuel level thermocouple

it justs seems one of those random things
didn't do it last time i filled up, today went out about 10, had a little ride about, stopped for a drink then went two miles to garage, no light on at any time
filled up, rode off, fuel light comes on
one of those 'buell quirks'

Mine was at least consistent in its behaviour, happened once or twice in Spring when I got it then returned in Autumn with the colder mornings......a tad embarrasing the first time it happened as I had forgotten that I had filled up recently....just managed to squeeze the minimum 2L in :oooops:

If memory serves, this was actually an IC fault rather than a level sensor fault......but as you've had a new IC ...... :?
