Hi all,

Wondering if you can help me.

The XB had its first ride out this year today. About half way through the ride, while in traffic, I noticed an odd buzzing noise while letting off the throttle.

The bike had an oil change and new plugs yesterday. Everything to the Buell manual and Buell/HD parts.

The sound seems to be coming from the top of the rear cylinder and only when the throttle is released from a small blip.

It sounds like something vibrating or tapping metal to metal.

The bike runs fine, without any issues, but I don't want to take it out any more until I can find/fix this new noise.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yup!

Tool kit!

:oooops:

On another note, how much oil have people had to put in to get to the marks on the dipstick? The 2.4Ltrs seems to come up low.

I remember many years ago when we were teenagers a lad I knew did a full top end rebuild on his RD350 only to find the rattle still there, Solved by wrapping a piece of rag around his spare spark plugs lOl

Well, it's a bit of a bump, but I'm thinking after all that, it wasn't the tool kit. Possibly just a coincidence.

I've not ridden the Buell a great deal this year and cant remember hearing it since my last post in this thread.

It came back today and was only noticeable at low revs and when throttling off to closed throttle. The annoying thing is, after I'd stripped the airbox cover off to try and get a bit of a better look, it had stopped doing it.

I've checked everything I can get to and everything seems tight (it sounds like a loose bolt vibrating), and after putting everything back together (airbox base also) it still wasn't doing it.

Maybe it only happens when the bike is at a certain high running temperature? I will be honest, it didn't seem to be running great and seemed to be more jumpy than normal at low speeds, but maybe that's just me after a couple of months of riding a smooth inline 4.

So, if anyone does come up with any ideas, it would be appreciated.

Good idea. I'll check.

Definitely sounds like the back of the engine area though.
