Post subject:  08 Ulysses Voltage Regulator
Don’t worry; I haven’t wandered in here by mistake.......

Our 08 spec 54,500 mile Ulysses has developed an unhealthy appetite for headlight bulbs. After researching UKBEG.com and other Buell forums the problem may well be a faulty regulator.

The parts book states part number Y0302.5A8 but various searches show part number Y1302.02A8 as an alternative. Both are readily available – for a price :o....

Any of you anoraks know what the technical difference is between them?

I hope I don't get a 'rolling eyes' for posting in here :D ...

One is for 03/07 bikes and other is for 08/10 bikes
Differend connectors etc.

This is my 2008-2010 spare

My 2002-2007 spares are Y0302A.02A8 with the updated 77 connector or Y0302.02A8 with the old 77 connector. The kit with the new 77 connector to retrofit is Y1312.02A8.

The 2002-2007 are three phase
The 2008-2010 are single phase - you could use a tuber (or sportster) regulator if you were so inclined

....and I 'think' there's 2 types Tuber VRs with different lengths of cable :?

I love this place, thanks for the prompt replies :worthy:..

Never had a regulator go faulty in 40 years of motorcycling, even on the high mileage bikes, but I guess it had to happen sooner rather than later.
