I'm expecting regular maintainers will recognise this instantly. I just started tackling some of the 10,000 mile service jobs on my 2008 Uly and noticed what looks like oil on top of my head covers. To me it looks like some kind of oil misting escaping from the breather outlets rather than the rocker gaskets I've read about, but I could use other opinions plus suggestions on how to remedy. https://goo.gl/photos/nvaMhYSkoU3JmURR9 https://goo.gl/photos/PPS75BGTkxnxEpUS7 These are the rear, but the front is pretty much the same. |

Since my bike engine jargon is terrible, this is the part where I **think** the mess is coming from since both (front and rear) are looking messy: http://americansportbike.com/newdir/Item/17010 One more photo to share. The front cylinder: https://goo.gl/photos/d58zAxqBRVN4UqPN6 |

The rear pics show oil that typically comes from a leaking PCV grommet on top of the rocker cover. I would say the same for the front, except that you may also have a rocker cover gasket leak; difficult to tell. The rear grommet can be changed rather easily, but I haven't found a way to remove the front PCV valve without tilting the engine down, due to it hitting the frame. |

Eek, I had a feeling that might be a necessity. Oh dear. If anyone has a magic trick to avoid engine rotation for these jobs please let me know. I looked in the manual and rotation doesn't look difficult, just very time consuming and needing lifts/tools I don't have. Thanks. |

Just jump in feet first. It's about a dozen bolts and a few wires to disconnect to rotate the engine. Air cover and air filer housing off first and youll see in front of you what needs to happen. |
