After a rather disastrous start to my exploration of the ECM, I'm now getting on quite well with ECMSpy. I have the fan running on purely temperature based settings, on at 210 degrees C off at 190 degrees C, but the fan does seem to run quite a lot of the time, so I may change these on at 220 and off at 200, unless someone tells me those are too hot? I also read an excellent article by Gunter on changing the deceleration region settings, to smooth the fueling out, when the bike is running at slow speeds (like maneuvering a car park etc). His settings seem to work very well. I've also changed the deceleration correction from 96% to 80% which has nicely softened the engine braking and seems to have made the bike a little less vibey too. Interestingly when I looked at several stock EEPROMs the deceleration correction varied drastically:
Stock 2008 XB12XT Europe 96% Stock 2009 XB12 USA 48% ULY Race 57% 2006(GB231) XB12 race 2006 40%
I've also seen posts on the US Buell sites where people ask how they can increase their engine braking, which matches with the figures above I've seen in the stock EEPROMs from the US and Europe. Has anyone else changed their EEPROM deceleration region or correction figures? If so what did you use and has it had much of an effect on the bikes fuel consumption?
I've got one last niggle to sort out, between 3000rpm and 4000rpm on a steady throttle the engine feels like it is jerking a bit (not harsh). It feels like the engine is jumping between two adjacent fuel or ignition points which are a way apart in terms of values. I've spotted a few areas of the rear fuel map where there are quite big jumps between adjacent cells, but I need to investigate further.

Good work. Wish I had more time to have a play...
