I managed to lay my hands on a bigger right side air scoop for my 2008 XB12XT. It's made by Free Spirits and is shaped to fit round the header piper on the 2008-2018 bikes. The standard small scoop fitted my bike came off with a bit of a squeeze (it's made of ABS so it flexed no probs). I was then left scratching my head, the new scoop wouldn't go in from the side as the header pipe was in the way, and won't go in from the front as the subframe that holds the regulator, etc is in the way.So it looks like I'm either going to have to take the headers off or drop the subframe out of the way?

Has anyone else done this before and can give me some advice?

thanks

Why not fit pre-08 headers?

Good answer, and I do have a new 2006 silencer on the shelf, but that would mean taking my existing headers off which to be honest I'm trying to avoid (at least until the bike it laid up for the winter). I was hoping to get this right side scoop fitted so I could enjoy the rest of the good weather, whist keeping the bike running a little cooler.
