Hi folks, got a problem here and it's doing my head in. Basically I have an intermittent electrical fault that kills my ignition but as yet have failed to find the cause, it seems to be around the area under the fuel tank where all the plugs are, the rest of the electrics seem unaffected ie the lights all work and the starter spins the motor over but it won't fire..until you move or wiggle the plugs around, I've pulled them all apart and some do look a wee bit corroded inside gave them a spray of electrical solvent and blow out also pulled the wires at the back of said plugs but all seem to be secure. Any ideas of how to test or clean up the insides of these slightly grotty connections.

I have used a tiny needle or riffler file in the past, Gus, but you may need to dismantle the plug (ie remove the pins from the plastic holder) to do a thorough job. Clean with 'brake' cleaner and pack with silicone grease (grease, not sealer!) upon reassembly.
You may have a wire that has a broken conductor but intact insulation... a gentle pull may show it to be slightly stretchy.
Consider replacing dodgy pins... I believe Pash has knowledge of types and sources...

Sorry pash, I should have updated you before now, I think I may have solved it by giving them as good a clean as I could, I couldn't get it to cut out by moving the loom around like it did before but haven't tried it on the road and in anger again
I'm in the states till the end of October so hopefully when I get back I can get it out for a blast......I'll be sticking to the bus routes though :D ;)

No worries. I thought I had missed something but wasn't ready to admit it... :D
