I know this ain't going to help either of the Buells but l I need to replace the chain on the Ducati. Last time I replaced a rivetted chain (20 years since) I seem to remember using a grinder to remove it and a hammer, with a vice held up on the back of the soft link to join it. Probably don't want to do that sort of thing with the duke. :)

Any recommendations for a good, but reasonably priced, tool to break and rejoin a 525 chain?

No idea what the postage will be, but if you want to borrow my Whale riveter, then I'll send it up to you. It's just done the chain on my Duc and Garrys too. Angle grinder and pin punch is by far the easiest way of removal now that 'soft links' aren't used any more.
