Hello all,

More xb9sx troubles!!

Between 2500rpm and 3500 rpm the buell burps, misses and is generally running like a potato - it shows no faults on ecmspy, ive done TPS reset that improves it for a mile or so and then it reverts back. Is it a faulty TPS or should I look elsewhere? Also are there any parts alternatives to the highly expensive Harley TPS replacement?

Thanks in advance

Jeni :sun:

are the HT leads OK ?

OK after your bad stolen recovered experience
is the wiring good around the ignition switch , & general head stock area ?
another often overlooked issue can be bad or dirty earth connections ?
are the kill switch connections good ?

.. or maybe some one can lend you a TPS to try ?

start with the easy (& cheap) fixes first
good luck :yup:

Thanks for the ideas, all of the ignition is new as it was really wrecked after been stolen - it's so frustrating, I can feel it's so close to been lovely to ride apart from this annoying glitch. I replaced the tps about two years ago but still not convinced it's not that causing the hassle. I soooooo wish there was an easy answer, just want to ride it :(

Is this happening when the engine is good hot ,or also when you just riding for a couple miles?
The coil can play up when hot and on it's way out.

And are the spark plugs capped correctly?

Plugs are fine too - Its happening through out, it seems too that when it does it, if i ease off the throttle and then slowly ease the throttle back on its not so bad.

If I thought it would make it all the was to Maz, id happily take it - however im not sure it would !! Im sure with some shared knowledge, ecmspy and me being able to wield a spanner ill get there in the end!!

Did not read if you have had a look at the tps ,but have a good look at the wires that go into the tps.
The wires can break easy when not ziptied properly.
It is also a possibility that the tps is worn out!
Have had it happen on a 5.9 cummins with the tps. (throttle position sensor)
Put a new one on and problem was gone!
The backing off throttle and ease again slowly sounds familiair.

I would log some data and look at what the ECM thinks is being measured.
