Hope ye can help me please , I've no headlight or dip on my x1 all of a sudden, no hi beam light on dash either.

It seems I have no power to bulb at all apart from parking light.

I've swopped relays around. Checked connections and still nothing.
Taken switch on handle bar apart, should I have power to dip/main beam switch? It doesn't seem to have ?

Any help be great thanks

I got a wiring diagram from pash thanks , I'm just not good with electrics. I've tried getting new relays but no one local has them . On diagram is say brown wire is for light power to handle switch. , no power on mine. But I have a rear light and indicators which is why I'm confused

Light switch ie hi/low bean has a blue , yellow and white going to it , again no power.

Fuses ok, i have tank off so not running so I could get to wiring , will headlight only come on when running? Thought it should come on with ignition?

do you have a multi meter ? ..Image

if you have checked connections & fuses .
plus the old wiggling the wire , this can identify breaks in the cable ..

you will need to check the earth connections for continuity or high resistance /open circuit connection
ohms ..this is for resistance checking.. low reading is good high is bad
volts DC this is your feed check you should get in the region of 12v DC

then trace the feed back from the lamp, just take it slow & methodical with them electrical gremlins

Check all the earths are still attached , there is a bunch of them attached to the frame under the fuel tank above the battery on the left hand side, the connectors tend to eventually break off ;) missing earths cause all types of problems.

Hey guys , had 5 minutes this morning so checked the earths and they all seem ok , now when I turn on ignition the fuse for lights pops straight away?

Unplug the headlamp......does the fuse still blow ?......H4's have a habit of welding the filament across the terminals when they blow which gives a dead short.
Also check the harness where it exits the back of the shell, it gets mauled by the useless brackets on the front of the headstock if not routed correctly.

Ok. , so I've unplugged everything up by the headstock from the harness. When I plug the ignition connector to harness it pops the light fuse ? Checked for continuity from main harness plug to fuse box and all ok, main power goes to circuit breaker ?
Any ideas ?

Thanks for tip Maz and every one for the help, appreciate it
