wasn't there an issue with the insulation chaffing on the fuel pump on some XB models then blowing the fuse
maybe that's your problem

Hi , I have a 2008 model Buell XB12SS . Has anyone else had issues with the fuel pump over heating and blowing the 10 amp fuel pump fuse . The fuse seems to blow under certain conditions / when it is a hot day and the bike is running but stationary or in slow moving traffic conditions . I never let the fuel level drop low as i have been told that this can cause the fuel pump to over heat and blow the fuse . The fuel pump works perfectly under normal conditions . Does anyone have the same problem and any ideas or solutions . Thanks mark |

Thanks for reply ; yes i have heard about the fuel pump chaffing wires theory but surely that would cause the fuse to blow at any time and not just under the hot day conditions as i described . Thanks again , mark |

not sure to be honest, but intermittent electrical faults are a bitch to find trust me I'm a sparky anything you can eliminate is worth a look good luck

My money is on chaffed pump wiring. |

I would put some heatshrink on the 12V wire as per Nutah's suggestion. Could be you have a dodgy pump, I've not had an issue with mine on hot days and low fuel when these problems are reported, however I did have a chaffed wire with the pump running continuously (changed earth). |

Is the bike definitely an 08 ?......if it is, then there's another well known issue  .......as you're on my doorstep, why dont you pop in for a looksee
