Hi guys bike (05 xb12) had been feeling a bit lumpy of late I started thinking there was something major about to happen , anyway decided to do tps and afv reset (afv was 98 now set to 100) and bike has been transformed and running great now , what I wanted to know is this something that needs to be done on a regular basis set intervals or just as and when required also if it needs to be done regularly why ?

I would guess it was the TPS reset that helped and it is a good idea to check it occasionally , basically it is making sure that the throttle position is exactly where the ECU thinks it is so giving the correct amount of fuel. the tps is a variable resister so will wear over time so could be giving a slightly different voltage over time. You may find that the afv has reset itself so don't be surprised to find it back at 98.
