Looking to replace my battery, any suggestions? Its a XB12R.

The Li On type have come down in price a lot but are they better or worse than the more usual?

Or ar the cheap one rubbish, they do seem to get decent reviews.

The bolt will rise again - just very slowly

Is the MBTX12 up to the job? I thought the MotoBatt MBYZ16HD was the one to go for? Bit taller but 40 more CCA and more capacity.

MBTX12U is the recomended battery for BUELL 9s and 12s, Ithink you will find MBYZ16HD is too tall.

I was recommended the 16 in this very forum by tadpole only a couple of weeks ago here

I only questioned it as I've still not bothered buying a battery and wanted to double check I get the right thing.

They have both the same height ,but the MBTX12U has a spacer on the bottom

Model Ah CCA L x W x H (inches) L x W x H (mm)
MBYZ16HD 16.5 240 5.94 3.42 5.71 151 87 145

MBTX12U 14 200 5.94 3.42 5.12 151 87 130+15mm 145 mm

Would like to add the 16 is a tight fit and the 12 falls into place. The 15mm makes all the difference. The ECM wires make the 16 not fall into the hole and it all depends on how the tray is fitted. If in doubt go for the one that falls into the hole. OR :askmaz:

I have the 16 in my Scg, and as Tadpole says, it's a very tight fit!

Coincidentally, we've just ordered one of those Yuasa YTX14H-BS's from MDS for our Ulysses.

On a lot of these aftermarket batteries, the terminal posts sit behind the body of the battery, whereas on the HD they are flush. How are people mounting the battery cables? A stack of washers?
