Hi guys. Looking for suggestions from anyone here. Short scenario: Bike was down at Moorespeed for a few more tweeks (as it does every winter). Returned a month or so ago - running fine. Sat in the garage for a month, so maybe the battery is a bit marginal, but a nice day so I try to fire it up - clunk, clunk - fires up fine. Run for two mins to put some heat into it and let the tickover settle down a bit (tickover always a bit rough to start with). Happy that it runs OK, I shut down to go into the house and get the bike gear on. Fully kitted up, I open the garage, wheel the bike out and fire up: it starts no probs. Let it run for another 30 secs and then pull away. I manage 10 metres then it dies. Fuel - its getting that. Spark - removing plugs and checking against the head, we have spark at both pots. Compression - no reason to see why we would have any issues there ( it fired, it ran etc). It sounds like it wants to start (yes, I have recharged the battery - no hesitancy in cranking) but it can't quite get there. What obvious point am I missing? [Oh, £200 to anyone who wants to come down (or up) and get it running for me.] Cheers, Dave |

Does it only die when you are on the bike? or will it not start at all now? I mean, could the bodywork be trapping something when you are sitting on it? |

Have you looked at the electrical connections at the coil? I had a similar problem, thought it was cured after cleaning corrosion off the connections then eventually found an internal break on one of the wires, right at the angled connector. |

Too late to edit that. Just to be clear, it looked like I was getting a spark when I tested it, because the broken wire was connecting, but putting the plug back in jiggled the wire just enough to break the connection. |

Letting it run for short periods of time has probably contributed to the problem. I had a similar issue after a TPS reset where it kept cutting out and running on one cylinder. Ended up cleaning the fouled spark plug up which resolved it. |
