Out today when after about an hour my speedo stopped working, shortly after the engine warning lamp came on, stopped bike switched off back on speedo sweeps and warning light clears speedo not working miles not adding bike runs ok but warning comes back on I have removed and.cleaned sensor speedo still not working everything else is ok. Will I cause any damage running without speedo? I can use GPS for speed indicator Iam 400 miles from home in Germany |

I can use GPS for speed indicator Iam 400 miles from home in Germany I've had very much the same going on with mine, seems to work for a few miles then stop for a few miles if it's off for more than a mile the Light comes on. It's been doing it for a 1000miles or so, I haven't had time to look into it but nothing's changed in a thousand miles if thats any help to you. My Plan was to clean the Sensor once the Weather changed for the worse and I put the Bike away for Winter but if you've already cleaned yours and had no change there doesn't seem to be much point in me cleaning mine! Let's hope someone comes along soon with a cure |

Same problem on a friends 2008 XB12scg at 15000 miles, fitted a new speed sensor, the Harley spares man said we sell a few of these so must be a common fault. Covered 12000 miles since, working ok. Another friends Uly did the same at about 16000 miles. |

Spooky! I'm experiencing the same thing with my 1125CR. Become quite consistent recently. Speedo and consequently gear indicator doesn't register for first few miles. After the first mile or so engine warning light comes on. At virtually the same point into my journey each morning speedo and gear indicator starts working, 200 m later EML goes out. Same procedure on way home and again speedo kicks in after a similar distance. It's almost as if the sensor takes time to warm up  Steve |

fixed two with same symptoms on xb's, change the sensor. (for a new one)
