Afternoon folks

It's been 7 years since my last Buell and the opportunity for another has arisen....but it's a basket case. I'll list what is wrong with it - 06 XB12R

Basically it will only run on tickover and VERY rich. Next to no throttle response. Stinking of fuel at the exhaust. But it gets more interesting - here is what I have been told:

Riders scanned it and found no codes - yet there's an aftermarket can on there with no Lambda boss so no sensor is fitted (possible culprit no.1) sadly doesn't come with a stock part so that's something to seek out - or an appropriate aftermarket offering.

Static timing has been messed with and possibly cam timing (?!)

Compression and leakdown test on bores done - fine.

TPS valve possibly replaced

Exhaust valve disconnected

Aside from that it is rough but that's not an issue. It can be had for a bit less than what it's worth broken. Worth a stab at getting it back in order? Is there anyone I can take/send the ECM to to be checked? Is there any Buell specialists in the West Country who'd take this on that I could talk to?

Thanks chaps 8-)

Probably something simple like an a temp sensor ?
Lambda sensor is on the rear header pipe not the muffler.
No such thing as a TPS valve.
Exhaust servo always disconnected with aftermarket mufflers.

Thanks for chipping in, some things are good to know.

Would the engine management not have a hissy fit if the lambda was unplugged?

TPS - not valve. My typo. Doesn't have one?

Thanks for clarifying about the exhaust valve.

You can turn error checking off in the ECM.

TPS is a sensor.

I can check your ECM for you, I am in Bristol.

Is your throttle shaft broken?

Hello Nick, we actually met many moons ago - you facilitated the sale of my Uly, I dropped it off to your house I believe.

The questions are prospective, not bought the bike yet as I was trying to gauge what world of grief I would be getting into so can't answer the throttle shaft question, sorry. Encouraging to know I can get the ECM checked out though, thanks.
