Couple of things before I forget...

Firstly - Tuber and XB calipers look the same and are physically interchangeable. XB ones are a matt finish, tuber ones are satin. The difference lies beneath, the tubers use a 34mm piston, the XBs a 38mm piston... I assumed they were identical and if we were to try and match up against Yamaha (for example) parts we need to do it twice...

Secondly - if you want to rebuild your caliper, and if you own a tuber, the inconsistency in parts books may thwart you. The 98-02 parts books only show the caliper as a single unit, although the text does list the piston rebuild kit. But there are more parts not illustrated, such as ‘H0024.F - SPRING, brake pads’ and ‘H0107.F - RETAINER, rear caliper’ which are the part in the centre of the caliper that the pads push up to and the part that holds the pads in position against the caliper bracket respectively. What the tuber parts book doesn’t list are the rubber boots, but they are the same as XB; ‘H0034.T - BOOT SET, flange bolt’ which is the rubber boot and steel sleeve and ‘H0053.T - BOOT, bracket pin’ for the sliding bolt which you remove to rotate the caliper when you change the pads.

Surely it doesn't deserve such treatment... I like jotting here cos I can use the search function later (and surprise myself by finding things I don't remember scribbling down)...

Facebook has a search facility too, not sure how efficient it is though. I wish posting pictures here as easy...

I'm not queer either, but I have a rough idea what it's about... :ner:
At the risk of repetition; you cannot argue against the accessibility of years of empirical knowledge accumulated on forums like this. Fakebook is just so transitory, but is threatening to be the death of forums. We will all will miss that depository... when it's too late.
Incidentally, I read with some glee last night that Fakebook has been caught out for peddling a load of fake news spouted by the Remoaners and financed by a group led by that has-been slime-ball Mandelson... nuff sed.

To add to this usefull info, i couldve used a couple of days ago. The x1 rear brake caliper and the xb one will interchange using the X1 mount. Also the X1 and xb rear mastercylinder are the same and use a 10mm x 1.5tpi banjo pressure switch should you wish to use an XB brake line rather then that shite hardline setup i could never get bled satisfactorily.
I have in the past used an older buells single piston brembo rear brake on my X1 with its coresponding brembo master cylinder. The threads on them are finer. I did have to get a cable made for it and it was much better then original. Sorry i cant remember exactly what but ill have a look tommorow and update. This info needs to be found somewhere

Erm, the Nissin thread is M10 x 1.25. The Brembo is M10 x 1.00. I found the early tuber Brembo more susceptible to overheating and boiling the fluid but then again I like using the back brake...
