Overnight battery drain on my Buell S3 99. Before I consulted the internet I went a bought a new battery, needlessly (If anyone wants one I have a good spare now).
So I found a video and have narrowed it down, 4 amp draw from the fuse marked odometer/clock.
It has the small clock (with hands) in the dash so I disconnected it (it didn't work anyway) and that did not affect the draw down. Not looked further tonight.
Question is, can anyone point me to a wiring diagram and has anyone come accross this fault before.

Not familiar with the S3 but with XB’s, recommended to use the engine kill switch to stop parasitic drain of battery, 4 amps does sound a bit high , as if you got something else going on there , good luck

Thanks so far, I'm asked to register to get the manual so am a little suspicious of that. I've got it narrowed down to the red wire on the back of the speedo?? This is where my limited electrical knowledge fails me.
There is no voltage to be measured but as soon as you connect the red wire you get 4 amps with the meter in series on the battery earth. Don't understand it at the moment....

Didn't have the battery earth connected for voltage test Doh.
The speedo is getting constant 12v with ignition off and yes it is the drain on battery. Don't get how but all I can think to do is put a switch in line mounted on the dash, not too difficult. I will look for a speedo but I'm sure it's unlikely I'll find one.

if i recall, some have had faulty switch's , cooked or vibrations go to them .

Interesting.
I spoke to a electrically minded who said don't put a switch in use a relay.
I actually got one that will do so will get it to switch from the first ignition wire off the key switch. Job done.

all a relay is , is a electrical switch using low current to switch on a higher current circuit
