Post subject:  XB9r Oil leak from cooler return fitting

Hi, Got a slight weeping from fitting from oil pump to hose. Can I take this off, clean up and refit?
Is there any sealant, o-rings or washers used on these?
Always been an oil tight engine until now.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

looks like it has some sealant around the thread already ?

:yt: Might have just gone brittle / porous with age , or number of heat cycles.

Thanks for replies. i notice this fitting rocks slightly when I put pressure on it and yes Nutah, it has got sealant on there already. The Bike only had 5000 miles on it when I bought it so I'm presuming it came from factory like that. I can't find any information for what sealants to use on Buells. Any recommendations? I've got loctite 574.
As this now seems like this is an obsolete part, has anybody replaced with Goodridge braided hose and a Banjo bolt?

I wish I was still 20, I wouldn't be fannying about, and would have sorted this with a big hammer and sticky tape.

It is a tapered thread, 1/8 NPT.

Thanks Maz and Nutah, I’ve ordered a replacement but will be around 3 weeks. Think I will try to use my existing one. I understand that it should end up at a 4 o’clock angle. What sealant should I use? It seems to have some on there.

577 would be better as it's designed for threaded joints. 574 isn't made for threads specifically, but should be fine. I never use PTFE tape on threaded oil connections, sooner or later it will leak. Loctite 574 is a pretty permanent seal.
