Post subject:  Heavy Clutch Action - XB9R

i have noticed recently when in town the clutch is getting very heavy to operate on my XB9R. It operates okay, smooth action, cable seems well lubed, just takes a lot of strength to pull the lever back. It could be old age on my part but I'm hoping not .. Are there any easy fixes for this , i mean for the bike not for my forearms? I don't remember it being this heavy 12 months ago so I'm hoping its not a sign of any mechanical issues.
Thanks in advance for any hints
