I've downloaded the manual and found all the torque settings I need, but saw no reference to using any loctite, but the bolts I removed all had one or another flavour of loctite on them (fasteners for lower rocker box and upper rocker box) Should I use loctite, presume it is mentioned in the manual where required? |

Maz wrote: PLEASE DO NOT USE LOCKTITE Surely it is specified in the manual on some of the fasteners, somewhere on the bike? Disc bolts maybe? Or if not actual Loctite TM then a HD/Buell approved version? Or are you saying (well shouting?) that no Loctite is to be used on any of the rocker box fasteners, in which case, thank you, I've not missed anything from the manual then. I'll clean it off the fasteners before refitting. |

Reg, Maz shouts a lot when he wants to emphasise his point. He is the wisest Buell technician in the country and will sometimes urge you to go against what the manual states. He does it for a reason and really does know his stuff. Trust him implicitly (and I know a lot of dealer trained technicians who have learnt from Maz) Steve |

Just wanted to confirm if it was DO NOT USE LOCTITE anywhere, ever. Or just specific bits? There's plenty of other techs and engineers who also know their stuff, maybe not Buell specific but in relation to other cranky old vibey stuff that like to self destruct at regular intervals; most of them would specify a grade of loctite for many applications, you know, for instance....critical things like brake rotors. |
