The rear [vertical] edge of my 2001 M2 gearcase cover gasket is oozing/weeping oil just below where the oil vent hose is. The part no. is 25263-90C. Is it a fairly straightforward job to remove the downpipes and gearcase cover, or will I find that when the cover is removed all the cam gears will fall out? ![]() thanks Rob ps I could try a gob of araldite on the outside I suppose [and obviously risk getting banned from ever going any where near ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You need to unload the cams first, follow Adam's guide on the How To for cutting your cover down... |

You'll need the later laminated gasket which is suffix D. You'll also need to remove both rockerbox assemblies.....make sure you get the latest vulcanised steel gaskets. Also buy a gearcase oil seal. Cam gears may well fall out but they're dead easy to set up/time, so dont panic too much. Whilst you're in there, I would deffo fit the 06 oil pump drive gear ......and why not take this opportunity to cut the case down and re-route the oil lines ![]() |

Not sure about cutting down the case though, is it really worth it? [Adam's instructions don't show the final result insitu]. |
