[img] It seems they use a scanalyzer to find out what's wrong. I have been to the local dealer who could help me, but at a price. I don't want to throw good money after bad. I have spent over a ton already. The bike has been customised, and I can't fit a rear hugger because all the brackets have been cut off. It has all been polished at some time. I want to find someone with the same machine so I can try my new pump, also ECM. I don't want to break at this stage, but might in the future if I can't get it going. All suggestions greatly appreciated. Royzeboyze |

Wow if its been standing for that long every fluid will need replacing, and although the battery shows a charge I would consider getting another, if the fuel has been sat in the pump and FI then possible a strip and clean as well, als a strip/clean of the oil pump I shouldn't wonder ... ? if you get it going and running nicely it will be a sweet bike ![]() |

let me know if you sell/scrap, i need to fix mine as well but will require a new engine. You will love it if you get it running. More smile per mile than anything else i have ridden. |

My no-doubt misguided and uneducated guess is that the fuel has solidified in the pump and/or the fuel lines, meaning the pump can't turn. Personally I would lean towards replacing the fuel pump with an ebay jobbie (see them quite often on there) and for the sake of 5 quid for some new fuel line replace that too - it's only a short run. I'm not sure if you can strip the fuel pump or if it's a sealed unit, but cleaning the varnish that fuel leaves after it goes off is a pain in the arse usually. To be honest mate, 100-odd quid to get a bike running after a stand of 7 years isn't bad going at all... |

Hopefully its not been left for that length of time with old corrosive oil in it. I'd crank the motor over a few times before firing it up to get rid of the oil in the bores, don't know if it would contaminate the Lambda sensor or not ![]() Other things I'd do is check the condition of the oil pump drive pinion (remove the pump and take a peek up the hole; check you've got the latest primary chain adjuster fitted (if you haven't, it'll already be broken and could send chunks into your gearbox and wreck it). It'll be a good opportunity to fit the latest, leak free, gasket ![]() If the bike has been resting on its sidestand then the needle roller bearing behind the front sprocket will be dry, so poke a hole in the centre of the rubber seal on the exposed end of the mainshaft, and inject a little oil into there. Seal it up again with a smear of silicone. For a few quid you could prize the cover off, lube it good 'n proper and fit a new cover. When you get time, drill a 3 mm hole in between the fork on the swinging arm where the rear shock eye fits. It acts as a water drain and you don't then lube your bearings with water ![]() A tie wrap around the top of the rubber boot on your clutch cable will also stop water entering the cable and then travelling down into your primary. |
