I have a 2009 XB12Ss which is a bit quiet with the standard pipe. The dealer I got it from has a Remus pipe that they say they will fit as part of a stage 1 upgrade.

When questioned they claim they disconnect the 02 sensor as this is best way of getting more fuel to cope with additional air from the K&N air cleaner and gas flow from the Remus exhaust.

Does anyone know if this is a recognized "upgrade" ? Does disconnecting the 02 sensor bring the EML on? It all sounds a bit iffy to me. My car has a stage 3 setup with a Miltech exhaust system but this was achieved with a software upgrade in the ECU.

Thanks for your advice ! :headbang:

Leave the O2 sensor connected when you change the muffler...

I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to Stage 1, 2 and 3. What is the difference?

Thanks for the reply...Diff between S1, S2 and S3 on the car was the cost...it got more expensive!

Do not really want power increase on my XB12, just better sound as the stock pipe sounds crap.

Can you fit the Remus pipe without any other mods, including leaving the 02 sensor connected?

Thanks again... :|

Put the exhaust on and leave the O2 sensor connected.

I've got the exact same question as I'm also looking at a Remus for my 09 bike when funds allow.

It all looks a bit complex and a bit of a can of worms in this wonderful (?) age of computer-managed fuel injection. I was expecting to need a power commander or something as well as the pipe to keep the fuel/air mix right.

Is there a defined route for exhaust upgrades on the 08 and 09 (cat) bikes?

How about this?

http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/a ... =283&s=&a=

I don't know what a defined route is, people just generally put a posh pipe on, and that is that...

If it were me, I would:
1. Put a Free Spirits belt tensioner on
2. Put 07 headers on
3. Put a Remus on
4. Borrow my (but free to use) 07 headers with built in lambda sensor bosses (will be ready by Christmas)
5. Fit dual lambda sensors, log data, visit Tubbs dyno and remap your ECM

I'll be keeping a lookout for 07 headers.

Failing that, and maybe easier as long as it still sounds good, there's this variant of the Remus which can even be fitted with a CAT... http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/240.html

What's different about '07 headers, XB12?
