Can anyone confirm that P/No 45185-96Y is good for a 99 MY M2 Cyclone
I've got the part (which is a changed design) but am not entirely confident it's right.

Nope, that's the wrong kit......clue is in the -96Y

Thanks  Must admit that I thought that the 96 bit sounded wrong at the time. Is such an item available as it doesn't show on the parts list?

What parts list are you looking at  Correct part number is 45185-98Y ....other clue is that the 96 kit you have is 5/8'' bore......the cylinder on your bike is 1/2'' bore. I would never condone rebuilding a front m/cyl.

 Thanks fer that - I left it too long to change the silicone fluid and the return spring is slightly corroded. The bore of the cylinder is perfect and the action was fineso I thought I'd sort it out properly with a whole repair kit and a complete strip down. The parts list is at Chester HD and someone has written the "96" code on the bottom of the parts list on the front brake page as nothing concerning a repair kit is shown! |

whats the problem with rebuilding a front master cylinder provided the bore is OK? done this on many bikes and with the credit crunch some of us would be unable to pay for a whole new unit |

Parts dickead at Chester should try reading the descriptions rather than just looking at the pix ........I have parts books for every year of M2 production and they all contain the number.NEVER use silicon fluid in a system designed for DOT4.......use DOT 5.1 if you want to upgrade the fluid or are using sintered pads. |

In defence of Maz - I think that what we do to our own Bikes (or other machinery) is different to what someone working commercially might undertake - liability and all  My system is DOT5 BTW - both reservoir caps are marked that way and it was silicone I drained out. Does the part no 45185-98Y (Now NO220.F ?) hold good in this case? |

The word Chester grabbed my attention, considering it's that dealership, I'm certain it's a typo and really you mean 'dickhead'
