hey everybody. been at birmingham harley dealers, they have very good and respectable mechanic there (he works there 8years, no complaints known yet). i asked him about white wire mod and it appears that here is some misunderstanding and confusion with it. i been told that white wire is one in the middle, single connector/wire in between two big connectors. unless this one and one you talking about joins in the loom somewhere it's 2 different wires. also i have been advised that this mod is done by the dealers after 1000 mile mark to give more fuel/power to the bike. nothing was said about "flat spot"! again i have 05 XB9SX with race ECM, Jardine GP1 and K&N and was thinking do i need to do it on race ECM????? |

No need on the race ecm. For ref.....the white wire is pin 8 of the gray ecm connector. |

The white wire on my ecm that maz directed me to almost was a yellow colour and hence my confusion over the single wire in the middle of the large block connectors! Nate. |

White wire, pin 8 of the gray connector is connected to the speed sensor, it retards the ignition at the exact point that Euro noise testing is carried out. The race ECM is programmed to ignore this input. |

I already explained why the race ECM doesn't need the white wire mod ![]() no, actually you didn't, you just said that i don't need it and that's it. p.s. dealers mechanics goes by manufacturers set rules and manuals, and white wire mod is manufacturers approved mod after 1000miles on engine. but manufacturer says it's single white wire in between 2 big connectors on ecm. p.s. i use B'ham dealers and their mechanic is very respectable. |

Quote: The race ECM is programmed to ignore this input. What did you not understand about the above ?? The manufacturer does not recommend any white wire mod at any mileage and even if they did, it certainly isnt the single white wire on it's own spade between the gray and black connectors....this is for the active exhaust valve on 12 models ![]() I would suggest that the Birmingham dealers mechanic is full of shit. HTH |
