Hi guys, just a couple of questions for those in the know.
I'm about to buy a Firebolt and have recently seen one with the Lightning tail, to me it was the hybrid of my dreams, I just wanted to find out if anyone here has done a mod like this before and if there were any headaches along the way, I understand the subframe would need to be swapped altogether but will there be issues with wiring/battery? I know nothing technical about these bikes as far as where the battery's located etc..and whether this factors in if a subframe swap is done. I'm hoping it's a simple change over. Also do the Firebolts standard mirrors fold?

Cheers

There will be issues with the electrics, as (IIRC) the Firebolt has them behind the fairing and the Lightning has them under the seat.

Still, if you are going for a Firebolt with Lightning seat, that should mean you have two options rather than none. 8-)

The one i had seen is already sold, so the task i'll have once i've bought my Firebolt is to perform the subframe change myself, so if the IIRC on the Firebolt is in the fairing can it not just stay there if I put a lightning subframe on?

I'll look up what IIRC is, thanks.

haha, yeah I'm a fresh poster, not too familiar with forum speak. I googled "IIRC" expecting to find some bit of hardware...

Your rely makes more sense to me now.

Cheers

:oooops: Sorry, Pav.

The IIRC unit in a Buell is part of the nut which holds the handlebars to the seat unit.

We need a How To for this cos it has been done so many times, and any more than once is a travesty...

I for one have done the conversion a couple of times, Firebolt to lightning is dead easy with hardly any wiring at all.
There are far too many standard bikes around so do it, it'll look great ;)

Can't put a direct link as im having to use my phone.
Go to the archives, search Gaz under authors. Youay need to read through a few of my posts but it's def there. Only did it a few months ago. You don't have to fit a new seat cable release. You really need to make sure that you get the right seat for it as it looks crap otherwise. I still have the seat and the tail cover if your intrested. The seat u can have but the cover just pm me.
