Post subject: | Horn not working |
Hi guys, first post since the new site after some issues re registering! Right my bike (XB9 City X 05) needs an MOT and currently the horn isn't working, I've noticed the flasher button also doesn't work, although the switch between high and low beam works fine. I've had all the fuses out and all look ok, I've also given Shaws HD a call as they are local, asking if they thought it was a relay and they said it wouldn;t be and prob a short on the switch gear, I've had a look at this though and all appears fine. I really can't work out what the problem is, I do remember the horn did work intermittently for a while and now there is nothing. Any help would be really appreciated as i really want to get it back on the road ASAP and recently been made redundant so trying to avoid having to take it to the dealers. Thanks Matt. |

As regards horn, have you checked connections? Eg spade connectors? Loose/broke wire even? Earth? Switch for your lights could be faulty. |

Ok thanks, will take another look. I did give it the once over and looked behind screen etc... and couldn't see anything obvious but then I am mechanically inept. I'll give it another go and hope to spot something. |

Check for chaffing of wires around the horn bracket itself and also around the head stock. XB's are notorious for earth faults and these can show up as mild such as horn and light probs such as yours through to serious such as engine stopping completely which is what happened to mine. HD dealer could find bugger all problems. I took mine up to ![]() Gotta love those electrics. |
