I've spent the morning replacing a Idle Cable and doing a Hard Reset of the TPS. After cleaning out the crud from the throttle body intake I came accross a worn area where the butterfly valve has worn a groove into the side of the TB. See Pic.. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e236/ ... C00641.jpg Ignor the white flash seen in the picture but look by the hole & you will see where the BV has worn a groove in the TB ali casting. This creates a sticking point for the butterfly. Is this serious or am I overcausious. ![]() It also makes doing a TPS reset a pain as the butterly sticks. The wear is probably due to the fact that the TB is at a slight angle forwards, thus the butterfly's weight is forwards as well. Get my drift ![]() I've only cleaned the area with Carb Cleaner & NOT tried to smooth out this wear as this would cause untold problems. What do you techs advise ![]() Thanks, Phil. |

This will not cause a problem as the throttle butterfly is *slightly* open (5 deg or so) at idle and is resting on the idle screw as the stop. I wouldn't bother dressing it up... |

What's the hole next to the butterfly I've read of a couple of butterfly shafts breaking on the bad weather forum ? |

I think it is only an Air Hole but I'm sure the techs here might confirm ![]() |
