Feck me, it'll take a lot to snap that chain! ![]() What are the chances that it was that snapping which caused your off? The tensioner breaking, getting caught and locking the drive-train and chucking you into the shrubbery. Not sure that it would have done much to the engine, but maybe the gearbox wouldn't be so happy. That would probably be enough to write it off, if that's what you want. |

It's a 2002 model so already had the upgraded chain tensioner. Suspect it might be the reason i woke up in a ditch |

It's fairly common for the chain to eat the cases a bit but I've never seen one that bad. Never known a triplex primary chain to break either ![]() |

Hmmm, that could be cause rather than effect ![]() But it would seem that the chain has been eating the case for a while, that wear hasn't happened in an off, no way, IMO. This bit of text was rubbish ![]() |

Was wondering about that but there doesn't seem to be any other marks on the chain, just appears to be one point of failure. Not that it's very easy to tell from those pix, maybe another closer image of the inside of the primary case and the chain would help. Still, with the race exhaust and some other rather tasty looking stuff, I'm sure there'll be a queue behind tubbs. ![]() |
