Anyone inspected the rubber end cap on the connector on the side of the throttle body recently (see diagram, not shown, but fits on the connector pointing upwards)? Attachment: throttle.jpg [ 11.37 KiB | Viewed 4563 times ] I was in the garage tonight, and I had a look at one XB and there was no end cap, looked on a spare throttle body, no end cap, then looked on another XB, the end cap was perished... I haven't ridden a bike with no end cap, but without one, it leaves a hole for air to pass just downstream of the butterfly, and I can only guess the bike will not run very well... But what to do if the end cap is missing? The part isn't listed, so I would think some 4mm fuel pipe with an M5 allen screw in the end... Next question, what was it there for? Perhaps for an ECM pressure correction for Erik's turbo application... |

Try the cap off a Fairy Liquid bottle. It might fit. They go on brake nipples a treat ![]() ![]() |

Tis the evap port.......and most XB's/X1's have long since blown them off. |

And in blowing them off, you end up with a small hole to ingest hot (unfiltered) air from between the cylinders and as such you will need to close the butterfly a tad more to make the bike tick over properly and your TPS to airflow relationship will change resulting in a lumpier engine... |

Some stores that sell cake trays or other wire kitchen shite have these little rubber caps on the wire frames etc to stop them scratching the kitchen work surfaces. ![]() N. |

For the love of God is there no end to this sort of shit on a Buell. Only morons cap air ports with rubber plugs, as they will always fail in the long term, or worse still only leak a bit and give bad readings for set up of systems. Carbs are bad enough but FI systems MUST HAVE leak free air systems. The fecking bike has only got two cyls to start with ![]() |

Yes I do know that a carb system needs that as well. |

Yeah, but as Maz says, this is there to connect to the tank breather via the carbon canister for California emissions. 4mm hose with M5 Allen screw does the trick, maybe a bit of lockwire as a belt and braces solution. |
