More than once I have found my 1125r emitted huge clouds of exhaust when I turn on the bike. Often in the morning, but not always. It settles down after a 10 mins or so but in the meantime I have filled up the driveway with a horrible foul cloud of smoke.

I can't imagine this is normal is it?

When riding this morning the car behind was keeping a respectable distance from my exhaust cloud before it calmed down.

Is it 'steam' or is it oil smoke? Cold weather will cause clouds of 'steam/water vapour' to come out of the exhaust.....

Well it hasn't been that cold so hard to say. It certainly has the smell of exhaust fumes.

Black or White smoke?.

It's fairly normal behaviour. It takes a while to get the exhaust upto temperature. I've seen condensation dripping off my rear disc before now, while I'm putting helmet and gloves on.

What Adam is saying is that you could do with some Albert666 turnout end caps to divert the condensation away from your rear brake caliper

Bought a pair via eBay last night! Waiting for them to arrive and fit soon :-)

It's the random nature of the problem that's annoying - that and the cloud of exhaust you can barely see though :o

Again, what colour is the smoke, blue, black or white ?

White is the closest colour. The only abnormal thing from my experience with bikes is the large amount of exhaust, not the colour - that appears okay.

As Adam said, it is quite normal to have a lot of water vapour coming out of the exhaust when you first start the bike up.

A build up of condensation does appear to be a problem with the 1125 standard exhaust - IIRC Tubbs did post in the thread about his exhaust mod that it will rot quickly from the inside as there is no drain hole to let out any trapped liquids.
