Post subject:  Metal Exhaust Filler Compounds?

Help, I've run into a small problem with my customised exhaust contouring insert. :oooops:

It looks like I cannot get the pipe to fit into one of the curves that turns away from the inlet stub of my Stealth. :?

Can anyone recommend a metal filler to do the job? Come to think of it, if the filler was good enough, I could just do the whole job with filler. lOl It would have to withstand the shakes, the temp, and any expansion though, and it would be a shame not to use my pipe attachment as well! :?

I read that race tuners sometimes use filler inside cylinder head ports (VFR750 heads were one example), so that stuff should do the job. ;) Does anyone here know its name?

I think the filler you speak of is probably Devcon. While it's usefull stuff in a proper application I don't think you will find it any good for an exhaust. Not clear on what you are trying to do but welding sounds the only option. Why doesn't the Stealth fit in the first place?

Thanks Vern. ;) You probably missed my other posts, but it's an experiment in gas flowing my exhaust so don't want to cut off existing pipe and weld on something that may not work. :? Not particular to Stealth, but that current inlet does not look ideal. If my revised inlet works, I may get a piece made up and rewelded in place professionally. Or I may get a whole pipe made up.

There are a couple of fillers, like Plastic padding Chemical Metal, but that might burn. Then there's old fashioned Gun Gum, but it has to be removeable with a rotary drill wire brush if I want to. ;)

Solution could be Devcon HR-Super 3000; Sandable and heat resistant up to 220C with excellent resistance to unleaded petrol? ;) But looking at the prices of some of these industrial compounds, may be £££ :?

I finally got hold of some Devcon Metal Mould Maker. Good for 260C! ;)
