What is the problem?

Hi,

Got a 2009 Buell that has popping issues on the decel of the throttle and general ticking over problems. Have just fitted a Stealth Exhaust, Powercross Filter and Remus Powerizer. With the Powerizer fitted the popping and banging is highlighted.
I believe the best way to go is to remap the existing ECU with Tunerpro... However, I dont have the time or knowledge to do it... Hence the wanted add...

Thanks for your time.

Most Buells pop and bang on over run when they are hot, its just unburnt fuel igniting as it goes down the pipe :)

Erm, what happens if you take the Powerizer off?

Which bit of your mods causes the poor idle?

These are the kind of questions you should be asking.

If the bike ran like crap out of the crate, you really need to be tackling the dealer under the two year warranty period. Fingers normally point to the throttle body / throttle positioning sensor.

There are a few of us that have "remapped" our bikes on this forum, you can see what I did on one project here.

If Buells were my daytime job, I would do it for you. To help you do it yourself, we (UKBEG) has sets of headers (pre-08 XB9 / pre-08 XB12 and post-08 XB12), for loan, with slave lambda bosses that can be used with wideband and narrowband sensors to log data and set up your fuelling. This can make a marked change in terms of driveability.

You could of course buy a pre-mapped ECM, however all engines are different and the results may not be as good as they could be - some have reported on other forums that their bikes run worse than with the standard EMC.

My advice to you is not to try and remap a poorly running bike in standard from, changing the fuel maps should not be used to mask the effects of a failed or poorly set sensor.

Worthwhile to look at the last bit of Pash's TPS re-set post here.

Also, couldn't an '08 and later XB also benefit from a TPS hard re-set, just to be sure it's properly seated, zero-wise?

I have done a TPS RESET through my throttle.. Everything was OK for a minute then then the popping started again.

The runnng of the bike was better without the Powerizer fitted but I read you have to allow some time for the changes to take affect.

I spoke to another guy and he recons all fueling gadgets are rubbish and to remap.

Ive already spoken to my Dealer and they recon its because of the pipe...

Im just going round and around in circles.

Have you checked you've released the chain from the ground anchor? ;)

I've sent Remus videos of my Exhaust issues and just spoke to them.

They are going to investigate the problems and get back to me.
