The mySQL locked up yesterday evening, attempts to connect to it and the server failed and I contacted 34SP this morning, they were straight on the case and restarted it for us.

Sorry for any inconvenience ..

Ah, so that's why I couldn't log on last night. No worries, Dude, was just a tad freaked in case we'd had another hack.

Thank goodness it was so easily sorted Ash. I must admit my heart was in my mouth thinking we had a repeat hack and what it would do to you :?. Its about time you could take a few steps back from forum spannering, you have more than earned a break :worthy:

Really wish I could ... there is no one else here to do it or willing to step up and take over that can do it reliably ... so until then its a ball and feckin chain. Made a promise that I would never leave the place to fall apart so will continue to honour it. We have a great team of people who look after this place though :)

Besides its in my interests to make sure it runs ok ... what else would I do with my time :oooops:

Ash, you do a brilliant job. As for spare time - what would any of us do if UkBeg wasn't here? We'd all be doomed to watching telly and actually talking to our other halves :ill:
The day to day running of the site must be almost another full time job though. You do a fantastic job though I can imagine it's a PITA. We all adore you for it xxxx

Thanks is appreciated although that's not why I do it at all ...

Its a simple case that someone has to and its currently my job .. others have gone before me and done a damn fine job of it, in the end .... they all got fed up and stepped down. Some for personal reasons, some because they got fed up with a few whining cretins mostly, because they didn't want the hassles anymore!

A lot of this place is now set up to automatically backup etc but it still needs spannering to keep it nice. To have a fully managed place with 34SP would cost us double what it does now

It happened again this afternoon around 5pm, I fixed it this time by rebooting the server, which cleared the number of connections to the server. Upping the number of allowed connections to the server is something only 34SP can do. I have mailed them today to request that they up the limit to the maximum, hopefully they will do that for us.

Sorry for the unplanned outtage :oooops: :geek:

Ali at 34SP has now changed the number of users that can connect to the DB so hopefully we wont get anymore issues :)
