Sunday was excellent biking weather in Wiltshire. After morning coffee at Circles Cafe (becoming a nice little eater), we set off up the A4 again and I imediately got a warning light. I stopped and restarted thinking it was just a temp glitch, but the light came on again. Oil was good, lights ok. Did a check over the whole bike. Had I finally broken my BIC razor? :?

Looking in the fuse holder, my friend Mick who is a prof mechanic imediately pointed to the fan fuse. Blimey! and he claims to need reading glasses. The fuse had blown so I put in the spare 10A. The fan appeared to spin with a prod, so we set off again.

After the short hop to Upavon for a lunch stop, I noticed that the fan didn't come on again. Fuse had blown again. Mick said check the fan rotation again. It would go a quarter turn each way, but was jamming somewhere. Then I noticed a piece of plastic stuck in the fan guard. This had overloaded the circuit.

I then recognised the plastic as one of the protective tabs stapled not very well onto the lower front edge of the XB seat. The right one is ideally placed to get sucked into the fan. I pulled the other one off just to be safe. Don't do much anyway. I wonder how many other XB fans have suffered the same thing?
Has there been a previous thread?

Having used my spare 10A, I put in the spare 15A, after which the fan came on as we stopped at Avebury for tea and wasps at the Red Lion. lOl

Yes, stopped to look for fuses at the nearest filling station shop, but all they had next to the auto bulbs were domestic 13A!
