Well now the jollies are over and hopefully back on normal hours at work some of this week ....tis time to revist muffin in his cell ........oops garage .........hopefully get out and get a meaningful log this week so that 1 Pash gets his palm back and 2 the fault is found .

Well like a prat I had let the palm go flat while away turned off socket it had been plugged into when i went on my hols.................BUT have found another problem that wasn't there before ....not sure if it's just a coincidence or because of all the bad running and serious backfires when it did fail.......noticed last fri that even when cold it wasn't running right so thought last night i'd plug laptop in and recheck TPS etc ...AFV was at 100 but to get it to tick over had to have the TPS wound in too about 8.7%( normally 5.something) ...........even then idle was all over the place which it hadn't done before so checked intake seals and found using the Wd40 method that the rear seal has failed and made a noticable difference to idle when sprayed. This was one thing i did initially and at that point it made no difference to running at all.
So guess i need to get that sorted before doing anything else so the plan is to strip the rear pot as the base gasket and rocker cover both weep anyway. Was planning on doing leaks after finding fault but need to sort first now as will never run right with a leaky intake seal.

I just spent half an hour reading all 12 pages of this thread.......and no happy ending.......what happened ?........what was the outcome ?......Is it all fixed and back on the road ?........No engine cut outs ?......what was the problem ?

Started stripping rear pot today to sort out leaks ........found the James rocker gasket in very poor condition so think i'll get a genuine Harley one to use this time rather than the James one i have in the spare set ................didn't get head off as i need to shorten down an allen key to get the intake manifold off .....the ball end one i tried to use wouldn't shift them......so gonna give muffin a bit of a spruce up whiles hes in bits as getting a bit grubby in places.
