Citroen GS. Ah they had GOOD brakes and you couldnt fall off!

What the hell has all this to do with running costs anyway? Brake pads? front tyres? Underwear?

One of our little scrotes has just gained an award for shaving. I shit you not lOl He showed it me when he arrived from another school with his 'Record of Achievement'.

ooh yes. We mustn't upset the little darlings. And don't forget.. it is their right to take state benefits, refrain from seeking work or further education; and of course it breaches their human rights not to have their daily weed.

Of course there are others who do try. But what has it do do with running costs?

Did you miss my post above?
In a proper scientific test those guys couldn't stop a bike doing 30 in less than 11.3 metres. If you can do 4..... you should be on track 'having them on the brakes'.

I have the whole table for speeds and stopping distances, but as 60mph has been chosen, here is the results for 60mph.

l-----Speed-----l-Multiplier-l-Braking Dist-l-Thinking Dist-l-Stopping Dist-l
FPS--MPS---MPH-----x-----Ft-------Mtrs---Ft-----Mtrs---Ft----Mtrs
90---27.45---60------3----180------54.90---60----18.30--240---73.20

So here are the distances for 30mph........ Still think you can stop in 4metres from 30mph? ;)

l-----Speed-----l-Multiplier-l-Braking Dist-l-Thinking Dist-l-Stopping Dist-l
FPS--MPS---MPH-----x-----Ft-------Mtrs---Ft-----Mtrs---Ft----Mtrs
45---13.73---30----1.5----45------13.73----30----9.15---75---22.80

Nothing, but while Citroen were hi-jacking this thread; "...binky, binky, boing, tres sexy!..." lOl If you stopped fast enough in a GS and imediately released the brakes, the car sprang backwards as the drive shafts unwound!

Well it was me who messed up this thread so its my fault its gone adrift. I got the speed wrong and thats my fault as well as I was not paying enough attention to detail.

I am not going to make any further comment, on said issue, as to what can or cannot be done. I fecked up and as such a "kicking" and/or the "piss taken" is not un-deserved on my part.

I think Maz has proved that a litre of Vodka Vs a dutchman on dope proves this photo is WRONG!!

must agree ,06 ully at 40k miles now. mainly wear and tear.

use braking front pads, synth3 oil every 5k, unleaded 95, pilot road 2's,

trip to portugal 2500 miles only probs a slight ecm falter , reckon due to 36 degrees.

seems to have gone now , battery optimated often,

also have guzzi 1100 sport but is now not used as much , riding position etc.

my insurance is circa 200 for 4 bikes including le velo.

cheers
chris

Well Geordie Mick I do not use/take ANY type of illegal drugs. I also do not see any reason why you would want to libel Me in a public forum and that is what you are doing with that comment. You have the right to your opinions and I am sure that you think that you are. I made a mistake and did my best to apologize, for that mistake, to the members of UKBEG. If that is not enough for you then I am sorry. I am not perfect and never said I was.

27k 06 XB12X on 55 plate with full set of luggage.

:o this is going to be long.

Standard (lower) seat from 07 model fitted.
Cee Bailey tall screen fitted.
Daytona Hot Grips.
Handguard extensions.
Maz Engine Breather mod.
Freespirits belt tensioner.
1 nearly new standard exhaust purchased and cam-coated. Later replaced with FreeSpirits Stainless Steel Big Oval exhaust.

on 4th belt, 2 snapped, 1 replaced as teeth showing signs of wear.
1 x front and 2 x rear Dunlop D616 (1 rear replaced due to puncture).
2 x pair Scorpion Syncs
1 x pair Conti Road Attacks
1 x pair Avon Storm 2's, just fitted and am liking.

4 sets of front and rear wheel bearings.
2 sets of belt tensioner wheel bearings.

1 rear sprocket replaced due to loosing it's coating. Have now repainted this (poorly) and re-fitted. Will probably have to do this again.
1 rear sprocket replaced due to tooth wear.
2 pairs rear brake pads. EBC Pads fitted.
5 pairs front brake pads. Currently using EBC HH as Braking wear too quickly.

Engine Oil replaced every 2.5k. Use HD 20/50
Transmission Oil replaced every 5k. Use HD transmission oil.

On 2nd Battery.

On 4th Front Brake Disc, 3 replaced at cost to me due to excessive warping causing MOT failure, although suspect main cause was due to 1st front wheel being out of true following first accident. Use standard Buell discs.

2 headlamp bulbs blown.
3 sidelight bulbs blown.
2 numberplate lamps blown.

2 services done at Emporium (1 minor and 1 main including Steering bearings).
2 services done (before experiencing the Emporium) at Leeds HD (formerly Eddies).
Completed the recent latest minor, less complex service tasks myself.

Have followed the process for cleaning up the earthing points.

Gear Shift mechanism serviced with new return spring, seals, bushes and bearings as was showing signs of stiffness and reluctance to return to centre position at 26k.

3 clutch cables.
1 set of throttle cables.
1 idle speed adjuster cable (seized).

1 set of exhaust gaskets and retaining rings
2 O2 sensors.
1 cooling fan motor.

Under Warranty/Goodwill.
1st exhaust repainted under warrenty. They never went as far as agreeing to cam-coat or replacing.
1 sub-frame rail replaced under goodwill after it snapped clean at about 20k

Accident Repairs
Have had the unfortunate experience of 2 front end collisions during ownership, 1st was car exiting a side road through a queue of traffic that I was filtering past. Driver un-insured. 2nd was van executing a u-turn with next to no warning. Liability accepted by 3rd party.

Being able to come to a complete standstill from 30mph in 4 metres may have saved me both times here. ;)

2 fork stanchions.
1 front wheel.
1 set handlebars.
1 set Daytona hotgrips.
Swingarm.
1 pair of front indicators.
1 pair of rear view mirrors.
right side front and rear footpegs and hanger.
2 sets of Handguards.

There's probably much more that I've forgotten, but other motorcycle manufacturers still haven't presented/produced another bike that I would rather have.
