Hi Guys,

Having followed Pash's fine advice I have removed my spark plugs to find them black and somewhat rusty.

The Bike had its 1000 miles first service at 1088 miles.

It has now done 1125 miles.

The plugs clearly were not changed 50 miles ago.

Is it reasonable to expect a dealer to change plugs at a first service (the bike is 4 years old) or should I have requested it?

cheers Steve

I've never known a dealer to change spark plugs at the first service - check your owners handbook - it will tell you what was supposed to have been done, there is no mention of changing spark plugs in any of the handbooks I have.

In an old XB9R handbook that I have it says to change the spark plugs every 10,000 miles ...

That's easy to remember, three sets of wheel bearings then the plugs.....
