I'll be accused of Bias here but,

I love the XR! - I would only have one alongside my Buell true, but I have had some amazing rides on our bike here.

One of the best was heading back from Cadwell through Gainsborough and back into rotherham, It took me ages to get home because as i went through a nice flick flick section id turn round and try it the other way,
the bike is really well balanced and at its best when you show it who is boss,

I was playing/chasing a gsxr on that ride, and although i couldnt chase the guy down the straights, when we were in the twisties i can see him pushing his knee down, working hard on the shifter,

me,

Lean forward, elboxs up, trailing my leg ala rossi (in my head), bang the throttle open, just be a hooligan and smile about it all the way.

If your a fan of muscle bikes, its one i would reccomend

Fair enough, but what did it do that was better than a Buell?

I liked the XR's engine, the injection is smooth and responsive compared to the crude equipment fitted to an X1, and the horrendous high-speed vibrations of the older Sportsters have mostly gone too. It's a shame that it still has this awkward typical Sportster sitting position spoiling all the fun. I admit that I have never tried balancing a wheel-barrow while sitting on the toilet but I bet it must be a similar experience lOl It's not a real alternative to a Buell for me, it's just far too different.
