I've been looking through the 2009 parts manual to see what differences there are between UK/US models and was surprised to see that there is only one part number for the ECM.
Is this because the one ECM can cope with all XBs in all markets or is it supplied blank and has to updated with the correct map by the dealer according to market and/or model?

The hardware is only one part number, just as it is on XB and 1125 (they share the same ECM). The calibration (maps and stuff) will be different.
