So, lets look at the problem then. Where is the leak actally coming from? If I look at the picture you posted, it just shows oil collecting at the lowest point.

If it is leaking from where the cases join, then to stop the leak you will need to split the cases and reseal with a liquid gasket.

But to go back to TOPGUMM, he is right on the button. Problems normally occur after a change. To change the oil and filter, the two drain plugs are removed, the ally and copper washers are disturbed, so too is the O ring for the filter (but you get a new one of these if you buy a genuine filter). Did you replace the crush washers? Is the oil leaking from them in a weep and collecting at the lowest point on the engine?

Has Tubbs responded to this thread? I haven't seen a post from him, but you appear to be using his name. Tubbs is a smart guy and will give you useful advice, and is no clown like many of us here...

Well spotted Nutah and well spotted Avalaugh if you look at the photo its obviously leaking from the top bolt area. What I wanna know is where is Mazs input here?

That gasket will not be easy to manufacture so I'm hoping one is available :D

Keep tweaking that top bolt and in turn the next one down, kinda hoping it doesn't snap before it stops!!!!! F..... it I'm on holiday in 3 weeks Riyadh H.D. can have it back. Add another one to the queue "awaiting parts"

I am a bit thick here, put a red ring around the "top bolt" and I will tell you if a gasket is available and what the part number is.

What ever you do ..do not over tighten the bolt.. this will strip the threads in the crankcase. :shock: then you are looking at more hassle :(

definatly dont over tighten, just pinch them up, chances are its the gasket that has gone, or the casing may have a fracture

I have highlighted the bolts in question

Wow, just noticed that the crankcase halves have a gasket between then W0005.1AMA

The clutch cover gasket is R0001.1AM

I think you are better off buying a T1110.1AM though

So was I correct in assuming the crankcase halves are vertically split? Page 45 of my dealers catalog shows the cover gasket in question as the R0001.1AM The crankcase gasket I shudder to think of that needing doing.

The clutch cover I presume is the circular gasket and I'm thinking the T1110.1AM is a thicker rubberised one.

Sorry lads I tweaked the bolts and then some, it seems to be forcing the leak further towards the bottom of the cover which is now seeping from the centre bolt of the three.

I would recommend you all tweak yours the top bolt seemed to need more tension than the rest over 8000 kms but there was no noticeable looseness in any others.

NEXT! Gasket replacement!
