Any updates old chap? I'll be cladding the shed tomorrow and I've bought some steel to build a frame jig. Also got myself a tube bender on eBarf in the end. Turns out most guys on Britchopper use the old hydraulic pipe bender to build their frames, so if it works for them it'll work for me!

See you on Wednesday with Wietekekekekekeke..... :yup:

Not really, been a busy week at work so too tired to stay on late. I've been sketching up my internal throttle assembly and I'll probably knock one up out of ally to make sure it works before making the real thing out of stainless. The problem is that I do not have a dividing head for my mill, so cutting a helical slot in the outer tube is going to be a pain. I'll have to chain drill it by eye and then file it. If it works ok, I may use one (with a reversed helix) for the clutch as well.

I haven't forgotten the bead blaster for Wednesday. :yup:

Finally got down to filling the Stealth inlet today. :D I went for 'QUICKSTEEL' in the end from Proppa Cars of Pershore. Good for 260 deg C as well. Supplied by Kalinex who make K-Seal of Rover K series 'blown gasket' fame! Put K-Seal in my Nova as well....sorted! ;)

Quicksteel is a putty, and it is quick. You have 1.5mins to nead it into action, and 1.5 minutes to use it before it starts to go stiff. so you have to be good with your fingers...and quick. lOl

Worked a treat so far making the shapes I wanted, but my fingers can only reach so far. The step at the bottom of the bend into the can just had to be tamped into place with an extension bar. It's not so pretty, but with gas flow it's the shape not the shine that counts........I hope.

Quicksteel sands quite well too so I could sand it away if it don't work. I have some dips and other imperfections to smooth over with more putty for my next stint. My sleeve insert worked well. I ground it down to 46mm at the end rubbed wax onto the edge and just pressed the putty up to it. Leaves a nice streamlined joint to the header.

My flap wheel is just a bit big to use as the taped joint onto the mini flex is not strong enough to turn it in the reduced radius. Need a smaller wheel to go round the bend and finish the job. ;)

Still no joy at the moment with photo shop so I will e-mail some pics to you pash for your information if you don't mind.

On the piss with Beef last night, so a bit of a late start today. :ill:
I built another bench so I could work at normal height and save my back.
Closer inspection of the rear section of the frame revealed that it was pretty bent and likely to have had more beatings than a ginger kid at Barnados over the years.
Image

I knew that I'd always be disappointed with the bike, if I built it back up with this, so despite saying that I wouldn't alter the frame. I changed my mind and bought a new rear section from the Factory Metal Works.
Image

It is a perfect fit and has a 4inch stretch to give me a bit more room.
Image

As you can see, it is now perfectly straight.

I also offered up the girder forks, to get an idea of how they will look.

Image

They are only hung in at present, as I'm still looking into taper rollers vs. ball bearings.
Image

Pleased with the way it's heading, just need to get more hours in on it.

Mick! =)

I found those steel end caps that we were talking about last night. Took me an age to find a supplier in the UK though. There's loads of suppliers in the US that will do steel end caps and hollow steel hemispheres in the right size, but in the UK I can only find a supplier of mild steel balls. That'll do! =) Sizes are close enough and they're cheap as chips.

Nah.... I reckon I'll just stick them on with chewing gum. :yup:

Honestly though. They're purely cosmetic, so I'll just chamfer the edges and weld them in place with as small a weld as possible, so I don't have to do a lot of dressing afterward.

Here's an example from a Flyrite Sporty frame. But I reckon they overdid the welding on such a cosmetic part... :old:

Pzzzzz.... its a bit quiet in 'ere, nah? I figured I'd post some pictures to liven up this old dusty thread while you beaver away on the trump.

The garage is now tidy and ready to start back on the Buellie. Your beadblaster is all setup and waiting for some action. EST, tomorrow!! :yup:

Gonna blast the barrels and the heads and clean the engine cases by hand. Then Por-15 engine enamel onto the lot. ( Link ) They also do an excellent exhaust paint. Not the cheap shite from a spray can! ( Link )

Garage now a LOT tidier!

Image

Shed is all finished now so I can work in it at leisure and not have to worry about the pissing rain or the cold.

Image Image Image

And frame jig for the Harley is coming along too. Ignore that headstock support. I found it to be too flimsy and v1.1 is already in the pipeline! :yup:

 you cheeky bastid! I doubt wieteke will want a quick shag on a cold metal frame jig, surrounded by welding implements... Not exactly candles and bath salts kind of atmosphere... lOl

I think I'm gonna give the blaster a wirl tanite. Will have to change the air line connection temporarily though, cause mine's different. But don't worry, I won't use a grinder... ;)

Looking forward to it already!!
