Got one of the ABBA stands for the 900 monster. Really good investment and works a treat. I've got to replace the fork seals on the M2, so the front end needs jacking up. I was wondering if anyone has used an ABBA stand on a Buell? Can't see any info on kits/adaptors for the M2 on the manufacturers website

There's only so much mamma mia, chiquitita, dancing queen or Super Trouper flesh and blood can take. I've come to dread tyre replacement time.. if only I could find the mute switch.

Would that be their Waterloo?

With the judicious application of axle stands and/or a trolley jack along with an Abba stand, you can get both your wheels off the deck at the same time.
It is also possible to pivot the bike onto it's back wheel to work on the front end.
Due to the time it takes to get the Abba into place, if you just want to work on the back wheel, it's quicker just to use a normal paddock stand.

Additionally, although I Bought the Abba for the Buell, I found that if I just reversed the mounting cups, It would fit my super-moto.

Not too sure of the price these days (I haven't checked the link, above) but the Abba stand was a little pricey compared to the opposition.

I seem to remember retromlc had one with his M2. May be wrong though...

Just for you I've got off me arse and toddled out to the garage armed with a torch and a guessing stick.

The diameter of the cup that fits into the frame recess is .870".
Please note that mine are a really tight fit and required me to drill and tap the end of the cup in order to use a pair if grips on a handy 10mm bolt in order to wiggle the little buggers free when I want to get the cup out again.
They could do with being a little smaller for easier removal.

To be honest, you could have just measured the size of your frame hole with a rule....

Thanks for that. Been looking at mine while working on it today. As you say I just need top hat bungs to accept ABBA spindles to fit in frame. I'll try to get a couple knocked up from alloy or mild steel bar ASAP.

Always seemed to me that the footrests were in the way of using an ABBA on my M2 frame - am I missing something? Or are you planning to take them off first?

Good point - on the plus side it's only one bolt to remove per side. I sketched up a pair of 38mm top hat bungs today. Should get the ABBA working fine. Just need to get them turned up at a local engineering firm.

In that case GT there is a swingarm removal kit that ABBA make that would prob allow you to use the footrest mounting points as a pickup and thereby save the paint on your frame around the frame recesses you were thinking of using? About £20 for these and they might come useful elsewhere? Granted the footrest holes aren't round but I think you'd manage with a bolt through them without too much difficulty. Would lift the bike quite high I guess as the rests are low?

Bungs are underway now but I'll look into footrest lift option too. I've used a same method on 900 monster when I removed swingarm. Just used long bolts in the frame and a pair of axle stands.

yup i have one for the M2 you have to remove the gear linkage to use it,which isn't a massive pain,you can't tilt it back to get the front wheel in the air,I strap the front up through the frame and from a roof joist.Abba stand is very stable.if you contact supplier you can get spacers made up for about £12.pain is as swing arm axle is off cente getting the lugs back off is not easy.once again I've put the bike up for sale so will offer the Abba stand if I end up left with it.I think I paid just over £100 new 2 years ago
