one of my relatives in the states sent me a carbon fibre hugger/belt guard for my M2, great i thought thats about a 10 minute job! not one of the bolts holding the old hugger on will undo, just turning and not unscrewing. any ideas? or is it just drill 'em out and buy new ones?...

 Think that we are talking about "well nuts" here. Take the back wheel out and try gripping the rubber with moleys as close to the base of the nut as you can.
A little wire brushing and penetrating fluid on the exposed threads is good too.
Last resort - chew/cut the rubber part away and grip the brass bush that is then revealed.
The one covered by the footrest bkt. on the prop stand side is awkward to get out in any case!
