Call Buell UK and ask if you are due for the recall. You will be.

According to 03 parts manual, each headlight is a complete assembly and it is not possible to get the reflectors by themselves. The recall involves replacing each complete unit. I think Pash is right; phone Buell UK. I am pretty sure they have a protocol for customers who live too far away from a dealer to make a visit practicable and they would most likely be able to sort something out for you.

HTH, and let us know how you get on.

spoke to harley edinburgh yesterday, they said that if it was due the recall then id have to get it to them :(

today i gave them my vin number, and the service guy there has said that he will happily send me the parts when they get it :D only problem is that there may well be a delay of about 4 weeks to get the parts :(

to be fair there wont be much he can do about that, if they are replacing as many as it sounds like they are then a wait can hardly be helped. Im considering asking the mot place up here if they will stick a daytime only mot on it for the time being so i dont miss out on the summer.

Hey, I realise this is an old topic folks, but anyone have the same problem with degraded reflectors on newer models?
I've just got an '08 XB12X, and the dipped reflector is crap, almost worn to nowt, am real surprised it managed to pass an MOT to be honest.
I mailed Edinburgh HD about the recall, to see what they say, Hopefully screw a new headlight assembly out of them

well, i think that confirms it, i havent heard back from my nearest harley dealership yet as to whether its due the recall, but i just took the dipped headlight apart and had a look inside, its black at the back, i tried to gently wipe it hoping that it was stuff on top of the mirroring, but all that happened was that what was left of the mirroroing rubbed off.

does anyone know if you can get just the reflector bit, or am i looking at buying a new headlight (it may work out cheaper than getting down to edinburgh!)

quick fix youth, kitchen foil ,i cut 4 shaped lenths super glued then in ,shiney side out ,worked for me ,

i think they refer to it as an upgrade , not a recall
i had my 2004 XB9R "upgraded" replaced by my local HD dealer
who put them in the wrong way round :headbang:

when it's done , they're a lot brighter

never gonna be Cibie Oscars though

Ta, see what HD says, never know you're luck, failing that will try the foil trick. Unfortunately I've got 10 miles of country roads between me and work, strewn with flamin Grouse, so I need my lights!
Perhaps Santa will bring me some nice 'extra' spots....... Hang on, that might be a bit far off....

If you get a new unit put an HID conversion in the dip beam .........................you will be amazed at the amount of light ;) ...you'll not need to use main .

You forgot and you'll be really disappointed when you do. There is always the dipping HID option, mind!.

Had my 2008 uly headlight replaced under warranty when the silvering went dull on the reflectors. Fitted a set of small spots and wired them in with a relay to have an independent switch but also only be able to be on when main beam is on. Saves having to operate 2 switches to dip the lights.
